Phusakthan Resort(ภูสักธารรีสอร์ท นครนายก)

The setting and atmosphere are great, and the resort has so much potential that I really wanted to like it. But the hospitality needs a lot of work. I suspect it’s a management issue more than a problem with the employees themselves. It just doesn’t seem like the resort knows how to make guests feel good about staying here.

Breakfast was nothing special. There was plenty available, but it looked cheap and seemed geared toward big crowds. The breakfast area was cleaner than the rest of the hotel grounds, where trash was scattered around and there were glass shards on the river steps. A small riverside stall sold fish balls; they tasted okay, but were quite tiny. We skipped the pool because the area around it didn’t look inviting. Our room was clean but small, with a forest view. Maybe a river view would have been better, though there was a lot of noise and activity on the opposite bank. The neighboring room was very loud all night. This resort seems to host groups, and the noise carried on through the night. The air conditioner was loud and felt like a freezer, so the thick blanket helped. We got the usual two bottles of water but no welcome drink. We didn’t try room service because the room phone wasn’t working. Sometimes the TV channels disappeared; there were only Thai channels, but YouTube on the TV helped.

We came for a conference and had a great time. The meeting rooms were nice, and the golf cart staff were incredibly helpful. The pool was amazing too. It’s a great value, with a lovely location right by the river and near the dam. I’d come back.

The atmosphere and views were the best part, and the location is great. We stayed one night and could swim in the river, with a huge dam close by. The rooms were fine, but the toilet and shower weren’t so good. There was a bad smell, the shower area wasn’t very clean, and there was no toothbrush. Housekeeping was a bit loud and woke us up. Otherwise things were okay, especially the atmosphere.
