Kamon Thara

I’m traveling by bicycle and like to keep my hotel stays cheap. This place was wide and clean, with a nice cafeteria overlooking the lake. I paid 700B for a twin room. Have a nice trip.

The rooms are very spacious, and some look out over a small lake. It’s close enough to the city, even though it isn’t right in the center. The hotel was nice and clean, but they were very strict about not checking in before 14:00.

I still can’t tell whether this is an apartment or a hotel. The staff were polite and helpful, and when something in my room stopped working, they fixed it quickly. I signed a contract for a few months, but the room came without sheets, a pillow, or a trash can. There was no microwave in the room or on the floor, and internet costs extra and only works on one device at a time. The noise at night got so bad that I had to move rooms. I felt uncomfortable having to ask someone else to heat my food because the microwave was downstairs. There were geckos everywhere, and unfriendly dogs out front.

Walking around the lake gives me a way to get my daily exercise without dealing with city sidewalks and busy streets. I also love the view over the water, and from my window I can see the tallest stupa in the world, shaped like a bell to awaken the Dharma in suffering souls. Whenever I like, I can get a great meal downstairs overlooking the lake. I stayed at Kamonthara Hotel for three weeks in 2020, and I’ve just booked several more weeks. I hope to stay for months this trip. The staff are especially friendly and helpful, and they speak English. That matters a lot if you don’t speak Thai, and it’s not something you can say about many hotels at the same price in Nakhon Pathom.
