Urban Bamboo

The staff went out of their way to help us find directions to Phimai Historical Park, and they were so kind. For the price, location, and service, this is a great hotel. I highly recommend it.

I stayed almost three weeks, and the service was fantastic. The young man at reception was always helpful and spoke great English. The women working there were lovely too, and even with less English it was easy and fun to communicate. My room was on the small side, but the AC worked much better there than in the larger rooms I tried, where it struggled. The location suited what I was doing, with plenty of food and coffee close by and easy access around town. I had several online meetings and found the reception area comfortable to work from. There’s a cheap, friendly laundry across the road, a little shop next door for beer, and 7/11 is just a five-minute walk away. Cheap, clean, and a brilliant stay.

I booked two nights and ended up staying two more. The location is good, close to thanon chira junction train station, and there’s a restaurant in the lobby, though I didn’t get to try it. At night it felt secure and quiet. I liked having seating areas downstairs, on the rooftop, and outside on the second floor. Snacks and drinks are sold in the lobby at good prices. The staff were all helpful and very nice. The room and artwork were nice, and while it was small, that wasn’t a big deal. The bed was firm but comfortable, the towels and linens were clean, and there was a hairdryer, kettle, and cups. They provided water and instant coffee each day. There wasn’t much room for two people’s backpacks, and there were only two hangers. I also found tiny ants in the bathroom, which seems normal in Thailand, and the fridge switched off when I left the room. I’d recommend this hotel, which is a hotel rather than a hostel, and will probably stay again when I’m in Korat.

The twin room was a bit small and awkwardly arranged, but it had everything we needed. The owners and staff were very helpful, and the location was quiet enough while still close to the main activity. The train station is about a 10-minute walk away. This is a lovely boutique guesthouse, with beautiful Chinese art and vases in the lobby. The rooftop terrace was great for stretching in the morning, having coffee in the afternoon, or a quiet beer in the evening.
