Thaksin Hotel

Being downtown is about the only thing this hotel has going for it. The rooms are awful, and the front desk staff are rude. B2 as a chain seems weighed down by rules that benefit them, with very few exceptions to make guests’ stays better. Service clearly isn’t a strong point.

There’s a local restaurant and a dobi across from the hotel, though it’s set back from the main street. The room itself was spacious and clean.

I was only here for one night. The room was basic but clean enough, and check-in went smoothly. Staff were polite, though not especially warm. I appreciated being allowed to leave my bike in the lobby. It’s fine as a place to sleep while passing through, as long as you only expect the basics.

Parking was a hassle, with too few spaces and a secondary lot that meant a long walk, especially in the rain with several bags. Staff also kept us waiting while they inspected the room for damage or theft, and held onto the 500 baht key deposit until they were done. I booked the Nakhon Si Thammarat hotel on the day of check-in, then saw the price for the same room drop within 15 minutes. When I raised it, they wouldn’t offer the lower price even though it was still that same day. I asked for management, but staff said there was nobody else I could talk to. There are plenty of other hotels in the city, and after this bad experience I won’t stay here again.
