The grounds and pool make for a lovely place to unwind, and there's free coffee at reception, with cold drinks for sale. Phuhunsa Boutique Hotel felt cozy and welcoming, thanks to the smiling staff. Our room was comfortable and well looked after, with a good bed, separate shower and toilet, air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, and kettle. A dependable choice in Nan, and one I'd happily recommend.

The room's Mountain View, from the bed, is the blue building shown in the photo. Service was spotty, and I felt the staff living on the property didn't want to be disturbed. Is it fair to charge for advertised service and then not provide it? I don't think this was a language issue; other hotels in Thailand understand the difference between single and double beds. I booked a superior room for three nights through Agoda, with check-in after 11am, a king bed, and a mountain view confirmed. On arrival, I was told I couldn't check in until 2pm, and was given single beds. Agoda said a double bed might cost extra, apparently because the hotel's idea of a superior room differed from what was listed. I checked online, and the hotel was still advertising a king bed in that room type. After a long discussion at reception, they agreed to give me a double bed for the second and third nights.

The staff made us feel at home throughout our three nights, and the service was wonderful. We had a tasty, generous breakfast each morning and stayed in a Deluxe Room with pool access, which I loved. The location in Nan is great. I already want to return, and wish we'd stayed longer.

The smaller night market is only a two-minute walk away; the main night market and walking street take about 15 minutes on foot or two minutes by bike. Our room was spacious and well equipped, and the building itself is lovely. There's a pool, though we didn't use it, plus complimentary coffee, tea, and little sweets. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Great value, highly recommended.
