The Rim Riverside Guest House

The couple who run this place were very kind. Nong Khai is worth a night or two instead of just passing through. I paid 600 baht for a large room with a table, AC, toilet and fridge, plus a partial river view. A bicycle was 70 baht, and you can ride along the river for quite a while. The tourist riverside area is around a 10-minute walk away, then another 15 minutes gets you to the more local riverside center by the naga statues. There was a night market on Thursday, but I didn’t see it on Wednesday, so I’m not sure which days it runs. When I left, the uncle even took me to the border on his motorcycle for free. Thanks again!

Right by the Mekong, this guesthouse is clean and comfortable, and some rooms have a river view. It’s near the city center and Walking street. The owner is friendly and speaks English.

The owner was so friendly and helpful throughout my stay. He sorted out transport around town, picked me up and drove me to the train station, then called later to check that everything with the train was okay. My room looked over the Mekong, with a view that was hard to beat, and it was a great budget choice. It’s a peaceful place to unwind, with easy access to the town centre and a lovely riverside path for cycling. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

The owners were super nice and helpful, and even showed us around the area near Nong Khai. Our room had a river view and a covered private terrace with a bamboo screen for shade. The bathroom was clean and the shower heater worked well. Inside, there was a big double bed, TV, fridge and effective A/C. It’s right beside the Mekong and promenade, with a short walk into town. We highly recommend this guest house.
