Family Huts

I found the bed too hard, which wasn't great with my back pain, and the open-air shower in the huts got cold to use in the evening. Aside from those issues, everything was great. The place is clean and quiet, the staff are very friendly, and the location is perfect, just a minute from Walking Street. Family Hut is a warm and welcoming place.

Our friends had stayed here, so we booked one of the new white huts. I'm glad we did, as I wouldn't have booked after reading the older reviews, and I want to encourage people to try these newer bungalows. Ours was perfectly clean, with decent-quality linen and towels, a hot shower, TV, AC, kettle and hairdryer. The position by the river and bamboo bridge is perfect. I can't fault the hut at all. The bed was quite hard, but we're used to firm beds in Thailand, and I think these newer huts would be a completely different experience from the old ones.

After I paid, the host told me to leave the hotel and gave me no refund. Stay away from this place.

The river setting is beautiful at night, and the location could be handy if every other resort in Pai is full and you just need somewhere to crash. But I stayed three nights, which felt like three too many. The room didn't have a clean, comfortable feel: there was no indoor bathroom, the toilet had no running water, the shower wasn't hot, and there were bugs. The AC and bed weren't comfortable either. There's construction nearby, so I'd avoid it if you sleep lightly or want to sleep past 8 am. I spent most of my days outdoors, which meant the facilities bothered me less.
