Mad Monkey Hostel Pai

I love this mad monkey and would stay again. The pool and bar were great, and the bathrooms were great too. It’s about a 10-minute walk out of town, which isn’t too bad. The rooms were so cramped that my group couldn’t all be in there at once, and there was no space for our bags. The worst part of the hostel was the rep Rachel. Everyone I spoke to was actively avoiding her. She made people uncomfortable and didn’t understand when she needed to leave them alone.

The outdoor space was cute and had things to do, and the $7 rate felt fair for a few nights. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the main area, which was fine for me but useful to know. The rooms were so cramped I could barely move around, let alone open my bag, and the thin walls let every sound from the porch through. I don’t think I’d come back because of the rooms.

The common area outside has a nice summer camp feel, and the porch chairs are a good place to sit and chat. The catch is that those conversations carry right through the thin walls, which is rough if you’re trying to sleep. The bunks are packed so tightly you have to turn sideways to get between them. The price was fair for what we got, just things to be aware of.

I kept adding nights because I liked it so much. The staff are super friendly, and they clean the rooms and bathrooms every day. Love it here!
