Pai My Way Hostel

The outside space and rooms were what I liked most. Beds are large and fairly comfy, and the showers and toilets are clean. Taking off one star because it wasn't very social, which wasn't ideal for me as a solo traveller.

Emily, the owner and manager, was so welcoming and kind, and made this stay stand out from the rest. The hostel is clean, with comfortable, private bed spaces and hot showers, always a bonus when you're backpacking. It's an ideal little place if you want some quiet as well as nightlife. The main walking street is within walking distance, but far enough away that you don't have to put up with noise all night. Would recommend it to anyone.

The owner was around a lot, spoke good English, and promptly helped with anything we needed. All hostel areas were diligently cleaned, and the toilets and showers got cleaned at least once a day, maybe more. Beds were fairly comfortable, with their own curtains, reading lights, and plugs. The sheets were a little scratchy but didn't affect our sleep, and the AC worked well. We appreciated the many places to hang out outside, though more effort to maintain and clean that area would make the property even better. It's central to walking street and everything you need, but the bars next door play loud music at night. That's not the hostel's fault. Bring earplugs if noise bothers you. I slept without them most nights, but reached for them a couple of times. I'd definitely come back and recommend it to everyone.

The premises were nice, but I was extremely disappointed that quiet hours weren't enforced at all. A group of loud Israeli tourists partied late into the night, making it impossible to rest. I told the manager, but nothing was done. Basic rules weren't upheld, which made the stay very unpleasant. Hostels should let people socialize while still respecting other guests' need for sleep. This one failed at that, and I wouldn't recommend it if you want a restful night.
