Thai Adventure Cottage

Guy, the owner, and Phana, our guide, were so nice that we ended up chatting the whole time. We went early in the season, when there was less water than usual, but navigating the river was still awesome. I wish we’d booked the two-day trip. If you’re choosing between one and two days, go for two.

I was nervous about rafting at first, but it turned out to be really fun and didn’t feel dangerous. I’d definitely recommend the two-day trip. The camp was great too, and the sleeping mats were softer than most beds I’ve had in Thailand.

This was the best thing we did in Pai. We booked a one-day trek, then the rafting trip with a transfer back to Chiang Mai. Guy was friendly and helpful, and you can tell he’s been based in Pai since the 80s. He’s really established and professional. Mike and Bhoo, our guides, taught us loads about local culture, nature, and tourism in Pai. We had such a fun time and will absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting. Thank you :)

For the price, this trip is a real bargain. They prepared loads of fresh food and kindly made it vegan when we asked, with plenty of fruit. The camp had everything we needed for a comfortable night, and the gear felt sturdy and dependable. Even after we got soaked, our bags stayed dry. Our guides were capable, professional, friendly, and full of information. We went in December, when the water was starting to run low, but there was still plenty of excitement for both the experienced rafter and the complete beginner in our group. The river had a great balance of thrilling stretches and quiet, relaxing ones. We also saw macaques, wild peacocks, kingfishers, monitor lizards, and water buffalo. Really glad we booked it. I’d do it again.
