Thom's Pai Elephant Camp

I got to bathe with the elephants in the river and help wash them, which was a fantastic, unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it. They seemed very happy and clearly well cared for. Having a bath in the large hot water pool afterward was the cherry on top, it made the whole thing feel perfect.

The staff were hospitable throughout our day and stay, and the tour schedule stayed flexible if the elephants weren't ready to move on. This is the best elephant camp or sanctuary in Thailand. It has two elephants, Ott & Tatdoh, who Thom inherited through her father. They're both beautiful, friendly, and very happy. There are no chains, and no rigid schedule. We booked tour 3A, a full day with accommodation. It included breakfast on both days, lunch, and drinks throughout the day. For dinner, we were recommended a lovely, very local place two doors down. Can't wait to come back and see Ptt & Tatdoh again 😀😀

We booked two nights in a bungalow at Thom’s and loved every moment, especially the sunset walk with the elephants. It was a two-hour walk, and because the group was small, we got lots of one-to-one time with them. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We also rented a motorbike there to get into town. The location is lovely and remote, just what we wanted 😀🐘

You can see the elephants for free and feed them in the afternoon, though there were only two. I stopped by for a quick look. I'm not really a fan of zoos or paying to see animals or watch them perform. I hope these elephants are treated with love and care. I also hope they're the last to have to "work" this way, and that all elephants can be free to play in the future.
