Limon Villa Khao Yai by SLH

There are a couple of small convenience stores nearby, and some nice restaurants about 1.5km toward town, where there’s a large 711. Walking outside the hotel can be unpleasant because of aggressive dogs. The staff are especially helpful and nice, though their credit card machine was having problems, so we had to pay cash. The garden is attractive, with mature trees and good birdlife, and the cottages are comfortable and well spaced. Two pools have loungers. It’s wonderfully quiet, with cicadas and birds at night. We prepaid through Agoda, but were first given a small villa that was part of a family villa and had no privacy. We had to pay another 500B to upgrade, which was galling when there were 30+ perfectly good villas sitting empty during our stay. The bungalow we ended up in was very nice, and still cost less than the booking.con price. Breakfast is ridiculously expensive at 589TB. The restaurant is expensive too, and the food was OK but poor value. With the 17% service charge and VAT on top of menu prices, a Singa beer came to a whopping 188 TB, compared with a typical bar price of 90 TB.

The breakfast buffet was nicely cooked, and a chilled, crisp glass of Prosecco was a lovely extra. There’s also a good restaurant serving well-cooked food, with a nice wine selection. The room was comfortable, with a good mattress and a well-stocked minibar. Plenty of privacy, and it’s dog friendly too. Great place.

The villa was nice, with greenery and a view, and the staff welcomed us with a drink at check-in. But at 300myr a night, the toilets should be cleaner, and the pool was full of leaves. Staff didn’t know what I meant when I asked for an iron, so I had to show them a picture. There wasn’t an iron or even a laundry bag in the basic amenities. The place has dogs everywhere, so Muslims should take care. I was also disappointed there was no smart TV in the villa at that price. The place could do better if it addressed these things. 🙏🏼

Breakfast was a nice surprise. The first morning had a small buffet, including really tasty rice, plus western options like milk and coffee, and the coffee was good. On the second morning it was a la carte, with a choice of two dishes, one western and one local. Both were delicious and generous portions. The unit had a lovely design and a little secret garden I hadn’t expected. It was peaceful and quiet, with birds and insects instead of traffic noise, since it’s away from the city and main road. The wide glass door and wall had a smooth curtain, and every door and window had a mosquito screen, so there were no bugs. Water pressure was a little slow but still comfortable, and all the listed amenities were there. The staff member who welcomed us in the lobby was very friendly. She didn’t speak much English, but did her best to communicate and guide us to our unit. It may be a bit hard to find at first, but that’s on the driver, so I was fine with it 🤣. It’s not the closest spot to other attractions, but I’d definitely come back to this villa. If you like staying in the countryside, away from the city, you’ll love it. I loved it very much!
