The room was clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. One staff member kindly drove us to the airport early in the morning, so this worked well for a single night before our flight. When we arrived, reception was locked and empty; after we called, someone came with the key. Staff didn’t speak English, so there wasn’t much of a welcome. The new building is near the main road and beach, but away from town. It feels more like a dormitory than a resort, with unfinished, shabby-looking areas and nothing nearby to do. I’d recommend it for an overnight stop.

If you're traveling down Thailand's east coast, Navara is a lovely, inexpensive stop near Chum Phon on the Royal road heading south. The rooms are good, the service is friendly, and the surroundings are beautiful. Just down the coast, look for the little blue fishing boat beside the open-air seating at the beach restaurant we called Anna's. Finding it felt like an adventure, the food was outstanding, and the locals were cool. Highly recommend.
