99 Residence

We came back to find other people in our room. Staff said, "a friend checked you out," which wasn’t true. They had packed our things without permission and taken them to reception. After we argued, they moved us to another room, but it was filthy, with dirty items and somebody else’s underwear in the bathroom. Having our belongings handled like that was a serious violation of our privacy and basic rights as guests. Avoid this hotel if you care about your things and proper service.

I stayed one night in November 2024. The bed was super comfy and I slept like a baby 😹. My room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little set back, but the shops and beach are still within walking distance. You can also use the Grab application to book a bike ride. There was a kind of sweet, oily smell in the hotel. If you’re sensitive to smells, I think it could give you a headache. The hotel has a restaurant, but it was closed when I woke up, so I can’t rate it 🙏🏻

Breakfast was a highlight, with a nice selection, generous portions, and food cooked well. The basic room was cramped but adequate, with a fridge and kettle, though no tea or coffee. The bathroom was my main complaint. It’s a small, open space with the shower right beside the toilet, and no enclosure, so everything gets wet, even the toilet paper. It takes about a 15 min walk to reach the beach, passing markets and bars along the way.

The room was comfortable, clean, and nice, and the location near Patong beach and market was good. Staff were nice too. Traffic noise went on all night and could be really bothersome. We bought the 1200 baht tour package to Phi Phi after being told it included 4 islands. Instead, they took us to Phi Phi for about 1.5 hours, gave us a poor lunch, then headed back to the hotel. I’d say don’t buy it, since that was a return trip to Phi Phi with lunch for 1200. The staff could also have explained the tour package more clearly.
