Chang Club Hotel

The location is good, right in the heart of Patong, and just five minutes from the famous Bangla Road. It gives you a fairly authentic hostel stay, and could suit groups of young people looking for a night or two in the center. You get what you pay for, though. I wouldn’t stay there again. There were lots of young travelers making noise, so I’d say it’s better suited to people aged 18-25. Street noise and construction were really loud, and I had to wear headphones with music blasting to sleep. The AC kept switching off during the night, so it got too hot to sleep. Also, anyone could walk into the rooms. I saw random people coming in who weren’t staying there, so I kept my valuables close.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, just ate at its restaurant. The food and drinks were nice, and the price was incredible. We had a feast for not much more than £25 sterling and couldn’t finish it all. The staff were quite friendly and helpful, and the man had so much variety. It was pleasant to eat in the open-air area overlooking the main road.

The air conditioning didn’t work, the room was dirty, and there were cockroaches in the bathroom, so we cancelled on the spot. They promised a full refund, but I still haven’t seen it.

The service stood out. The staff were welcoming and hospitable, and when I ordered a small pint of beer, they brought salted peanuts and a cold, refreshing face wipe to lift my mood. The wood-finished decor felt warm, with decent English cover music playing. It’s a busy restaurant on a busy street, with tourists constantly passing by. Despite what other reviews say, I found the food tasty and nicely presented. Portions were just right, though prices were a little high and the food could have come out a bit faster. A good experience overall.
