The Gig Hotel

The Gig Hotel was quiet enough to sleep well, even though the main clubs, restaurants, and nightlife are just a short walk away. That location made it especially handy for a solo trip. The staff were welcoming and helpful from check-in through checkout. I enjoyed the pool, and the gym, while small, had enough basic equipment for a decent workout. There weren’t many kids during my stay, which suited me and my friend and kept things feeling calm, though the hotel isn’t adults-only. They refreshed the minibar each day with water and coffee, and breakfast was a good quality continental spread with enough choice. It felt comfortable and good value. I’d happily come back.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff were professional. We kept waking up late and missed breakfast, but would consider staying here again if we return to the area. We were very disappointed by the Similan Islands tour sold through the hotel. The boat was extremely uncomfortable, and at a breakfast stop our group was combined with Russian tourists. There were two guides, one Russian and one local. The local guide’s heavy accent already made the English hard to follow, while the Russian guide spoke almost entirely in Russian for long stretches. French tourists and we Turkish guests couldn’t understand. The English explanations from the other guide lasted only a few seconds at a time, leaving us without proper information about the places we visited. We felt excluded and felt some guests were being prioritized. We raised our concerns during the tour, but nothing meaningful changed. The food came in plastic containers and looked quite unhealthy. We were hungry from 5:30 AM until 5:00 PM. If you’re Turkish and have experienced boat tours in Turkey, you may find it even more disappointing. The hotel itself was very good for cleanliness, comfort, and location, but we don’t recommend its Similan Islands tour.

I slept so soundly that my alarm clock may as well have taken the day off. The Gig Hotel is peaceful inside, even though Patong’s beach, shopping, and nightlife are only a short walk away. The rooms were spotless, the rooftop pool looked out over the city, and the staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was fresh, had a good range, and was surprisingly nice for this price bracket. There was one small nuisance: a few very enthusiastic Russian guests in the lobby sometimes came straight at you, as if personal space didn’t apply. If that was my biggest problem, the hotel was doing plenty right. It has a lovely balance of Patong bustle and a comfortable modern place to retreat to. I’d gladly return.

The rooms are decorated neatly, the location is very good, and the staff are cheerful and quick to help. My only disappointment was breakfast, since there wasn’t Indian food. If the hotel gets a decent number of Indian tourists, adding a few basics like daal, chole, sewai, or poha would be a simple and welcome change. They already serve boiled rice and veg fried rice, and could rotate three or four basic curries. Apart from breakfast, everything was 💯.
