Villa Yoosook

The villa itself is roomy, with beautiful views and plenty of balcony space to sit and take them in. Ying and the staff were incredible and very helpful, arranging meals and massages for our group. They also kept the older villa immaculately clean. The floors were so slick from the wax, though, that two of us slipped and fell. Thankfully, neither of us was hurt. We stayed seven nights in January 2024. The hill made a real difference to our plans, especially when getting back late at night, and the location problem can't be overstated. Before booking, I wish I'd paid more attention to the reviews about it. We thought we were prepared, but the climb is steep. We found only two drivers willing to go down, and they would drop us off but not pick us up. We asked the villa manager to arrange a car for our airport trip with luggage, but even that driver wouldn't come down. Ying kindly drove us up, though we still had to help the driver carry the luggage up. Grab bike drivers delivering food struggled too, and many asked us to meet them at the top. Without the access issue, this could easily have been a 4-4.5 star stay.

The service team was perfect, and so was the villa. The hill down is a little tricky, but with at least average fitness it's no problem. Totally recommend it.

The rooms were good, the villa was well maintained, and the views of Patong Beach are the best. But the service felt like one-star despite four-star prices. We weren't told before booking that towels are changed only once every four days, and guests have to take care of refilling the water themselves. Dennis seemed a bit all over the place. He meant well, but could be intrusive. The location is the worst part. Nine out of ten cabs won't come down the slope to the villa. Walking up and down is a pain, especially with bags.

We had an enjoyable stay, and the villa was clean and well looked after despite being built to 1980s-1990s standards. There are plenty of washrooms, plus a great pool area and a games room with a pool table. The seven rooms were serviced and thoroughly cleaned each day, and all eight of us were comfortable. One large room had a Jacuzzi, though we didn't try it. Ying and the two other helpers were always there when needed, and even made us delicious instant noodles. Ordering food was easy too. We enjoyed Pad See Ew for 150-200 THB, along with Khao Man Khai and grilled chicken. Before the trip, we asked for various drinks, and they were already nicely chilled in the two large Samsung fridges when we arrived. I also appreciated the glassware, with plenty of wine and whisky glasses, which staff cleaned after we used them. The villa is quite secluded, though Grab and other transport are available from the main road. The main road above the villa has a restaurant owner, Sern, who basically monopolises the van limo service. It costs 2000 THB return to Patong town or 1400 THB one way to HKT airport. The biggest put-off was Sern charging 100 THB to take you up and down the steep 200-metre slope to the villa. That should be free given the villa's location. He often said he had no change and expected you to leave whatever change you had as a tip.
