City Garden Pattaya

My suite has a living area and a separate sleeping area, plus a big fridge, large balcony, and very quiet air-conditioning. The little pool is nice for a quick dip, and the manager and staff are friendly. There’s no food at the hotel, but plenty of restaurants nearby, including a small German and Thai place right next door that can bring food over if you ask. It’s a nice little boutique hotel. There are four floors and no elevator, so ask for a lower room if stairs are a problem.

It’s an older building, but the rooms are spacious and the price is good. It’s on the Baht bus route between Jomtien and Pattaya, and close to the bus station for coaches to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The air-conditioning in my room didn’t really work, though the ceiling fan was fine. Since the building is older, on top of a hill, and has gauze window screens, I could leave the windows open for a pleasant breeze without mosquitoes.

My two-bedroom apartment on the third floor was a good budget option. Both bedrooms were a decent size, with their own wardrobe, safe, and air-conditioning. The beds were comfortable, and the mattresses weren’t as hard as I usually find in Thailand. The common room had a lounge suite, desk, refrigerator, flat-screen TV, ceiling fan, and coffee and tea facilities, plus access to a narrow balcony. The bathroom was basic but quite large. The apartments are about 30-40 metres down a side street off the road between Pattaya and Jomthien. They’re 2 km from the south end of Walking Street and a few hundred metres from South Pattaya Bus Station. A short walk to the main road gets you a Baht Bus to either place. We left the screened windows open and had a cooling breeze through the apartment day and night. There’s a small pool, and reception is staffed 24 hours. The rooms are serviced daily and kept very clean. There’s no lift, so the upper floors won’t suit people with mobility issues. There’s no food service, but a small adjoining cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there’s a laundry service 15 metres away. I’m happy I chose this accommodation and would stay here again.

My check-in was especially good. I arrived in Pattaya at 7 am, and they gave me a room at 9:00 AM without an extra charge. That evening, the owner gave me a map and detailed advice and guidance. The owners are proactively helpful, and the place is close to all the tourist destinations. It felt like a home away from home, with some extra luxury and good value for money.
