Flipper Lodge

The bellboy was the real star during my three-night stay. He had a good attitude and greeted me with “Hello boss.” Front desk English was as expected, pretty poor; they basically understood yes and no. I arrived with a cough that was getting better, and staff noticed because my daughter had it too. I set the AC to Cool at 26 Celsius and locked it. On the final night, my cough started getting worse again, so I checked and found the AC was no longer locked on Cool. It had been switched to Dry. If a cleaner changed it and didn’t switch it back, that’s not cool. If it wasn’t the cleaner, then this hotel isn’t safe. I raised it with the front desk, and they said they’d send a technician. A technician won’t solve it, though, because the system worked and there was no technical or mechanical fault. The setting had clearly been changed. The building also has poor insulation. Outside it may look white like every other hotel, but the room turns into a sauna. Once you switch off the AC, it goes from 26 to 31 Celsius in about 20 minutes. There’s a cheaper place down the road, sunshine hotel & Residences, that’s well insulated. You can sleep all night without AC and it’s barely different by morning. They also have AC in the lobby.
