Good facilities.

The beach is only a short walk away, which was convenient, and breakfast was included and delicious. We stayed in room D2 on the 4th floor. It was spacious and attractive, and the spring mattress was comfortable enough. The rest of the room was acceptable, but the bathroom was very dirty and had white dust everywhere, perhaps from recently installed fixtures or other work. The showerhead pointed at the toilet, making it hard to shower, and even the lowest water-heater setting got very hot. The elevator was small, old, and very slow. I wouldn’t recommend this place for women traveling alone or in a group, since there were lots of drunk people around at night and it felt scary. There’s no hairdryer, so bring your own.

The area around the hostel was littered with rubbish and smelled awful, and the room itself reeked of bathroom disinfectant. I booked a “deluxe room” at short notice for New Year's Eve, but there was nothing deluxe except the price. It was a standard room without the promised amenities. The room was run-down and dirty. The mattresses sagged badly, and the filthy bedding had bloodstains all over it and looked like it hadn’t been changed after the previous guest. Dust covered the kettle, and I had no idea how old the water in it was. There was water and a very dirty kettle, but aside from the refrigerator there were no other amenities, and no tea or coffee in the room. The windows wouldn’t open, and the view was of a derelict building and piles of garbage. Breakfast was included, but I didn’t try it. Apparently, tea and coffee were available for free throughout the day. This was unacceptable, and I can’t understand how the ratings were reached. Not recommended.

A pleasant, familiar sort of place. I’d recommend it.
