Mayaana Beach Resort Pattaya

The location is excellent, but our one night at Golden Tulip was a real disappointment. We came because it was close to the Sanctuary of Truth and thought staying over would let us relax instead of hurrying back to Bangkok. We ended up unable to unwind, eat dinner, or even freshen up until much of the area had closed. The hotel seemed badly managed and run-down, with serious maintenance problems, especially the plumbing. Near the pool in the lower rooms, there was a constant sewage smell that really put us off. We chose it because of the low price, but would gladly have spent fifty dollars more for somewhere better nearby. Our first room had plumbing trouble, as shown in the attached video. We waited more than two hours for repairs, unable to freshen up or relax, which was the whole reason for staying. They eventually moved us to another room. We understood that things like this can happen, and accepted the hotel’s apology offer of a complimentary beer or mock-cocktail. I took the beer at the bar, then checked twice with reception that I’d claimed it. Still, they charged us for it at checkout the next morning. There were no notes, communication, or follow-up about their own offer. Staff had also told us we could eat at the restaurant until midnight. We arrived at 11 PM and were told the kitchen was closed because they’d sprayed insecticide. There’d been no warning, and even the teams didn’t seem to be communicating with each other. The staff were kind and apologetic, but the stay was thrown off by their inability to look after guests properly. It felt like there was no oversight at all. You pay premium rates for an ordinary stay wrapped in an inflated image. Disappointing and truly unremarkable.

The staff made the stay special. Khotchamon, Nine, Phai, Yui, and Paksi gave us world-class service and surprised us with a birthday banner and delicious cake. It’s a quiet Pattaya getaway with big rooms, places to sit by the private beach, and stunning sunsets. Fantastic value for money!

The hotel has a private beach with a view of the santury of truth, plus a big pool and large rooms with bath tubs. Staff are friendly, and breakfast is very good with lots of choices. Getting a taxi can sometimes take a while because the hotel is so far inside. We had an amazing experience.

For a mid three-star hotel, the rooms are very basic and furnished cheaply, and the pool is small. The beach cafe coffee tastes like dirty water, and there’s no soundproofing. I had their king room, but it absolutely wasn’t worth the premium price.
