Star Hotel Pattaya

It's a new hotel, but there's no car parking and the service still needs improvement.

The staff were so welcoming, and the owner was especially kind. He's Chinese and speaks fluent Mandarin. When we ran into some personal issues, he helped us sort them out, which felt really heartwarming while we were abroad. Thanks so much! 🙏 We didn't run into any of the problems mentioned in the Google ratings, so booking felt fine to us. The hotel had only recently opened, so everything was new. There's a huge floor-to-ceiling window as you enter. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the hotel met star-rated standards, comparable to Ji Hotel in China. The beach is about a five-minute walk away; songthaews are easy to catch at the main intersection, and Central Hotels & Resorts is two minutes away on foot, with a food street nearby. Even over the busy New Year's holiday, the price stayed very reasonable and didn't go up at all. Great value. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Pattaya.

The owner was very kind. He's Chinese, and Chinese staff at the front desk got us checked in quickly. After checkout he even offered us a shower in our room, then helped with our luggage when we missed our bus so we could catch the one to the airport on time. Our room was on the second floor, with stairs leading straight down to the street without having to pass through the lobby. We found that really convenient. The hotel is new, so all the facilities were new too, and the beach was just a 3-5 minute walk away. Even on January 1st, the rate was very reasonable, much lower than other hotels of a similar level and in a similar location. We had a very pleasant stay.

I'll never stay here again. It was the worst hotel, and I'd give it zero stars. The refrigerator in my room was broken. I asked for it to be fixed, but nothing was done. I could hear people in the next room, and the hallway noise was so loud I wondered if my door was open. There was no balcony, and people in the neighboring building could see right into the room. My friend's shower didn't have hot water either. Check-in took 30 minutes. When the receptionist was busy, another customer cut in line, and instead of asking them to wait, the receptionist started helping them first.
