The Class Boutique Hotel

After two nights, I checked out a day early and moved to an Airbnb for $43 AUD a night, where I could breathe. This place cost $35 AUD a night, so it didn’t feel cheap, and the booking.com photos were misleading. I’m convinced the stay took at least 5 years off my life. I also had to wait awkwardly while they held my 1000baht deposit until I “write you a review.” That felt dishonest and was poor form. The staff I dealt with were generally friendly, though. The room felt dirty from the start. I saw 3 cockroaches when I walked in, and the toilet still had someone’s recent pee in it. The lobby and the rest of the place didn’t feel clean either, and I kept seeing cockroaches. The bathroom was gross, and I was afraid to put my toothbrush on the counter in case of a mouth fungal infection or a cockroach taking it. The soap and shampoo were in glass bottles by the sink. When I moved them toward the shower, I nearly cut myself on a broken bottle. The shower was just as disgusting as the other things I’d found, and replacing the broken glass should be basic safety. After my first night I woke congested and coughing up phlegm. I went to the pharmacy and took a walk, and my chest improved. As soon as I came back inside, the chest problems started again. I gave it another chance, but the same thing happened: walking outside cleared the chest and cough, then entering the lobby brought them back. You could feel the difference in air quality. I left a day early. Avoid this place if you value your health.
