The Park Pattaya

The room had everything working, and there was a nice pool, though I didn’t try it. Coffee, tea, cakes, and bread were available by reception 24/7, mostly 3 in 1 mix. Still, for what I paid, I think there are cheaper and better hotels nearby. My room felt dated and musty, and the adjoining door let me hear the TV next door at night. Cigarette smells came through too. Luckily, I could open the windows. Nothing much to complain about, really, but those issues stood out.

This was my second stay, and this time I stayed longer. The hotel and area are nice, calm, and quiet, so sleeping at night is bliss. The beds are comfortable and there’s a nice balcony view. The property has a swimming pool too. It’s a 10-minute drive to central Pattaya beach, or 15 minutes to Jomtien beach.

I picked this hotel because my business meeting was nearby. Otherwise, I’d have chosen somewhere closer to the beach. It may once have been a 3-star place, but it’s showing its age everywhere. There was no coffee, tea, or water heater in my room, and no room service setup at all, not even a phone or PABX calling device. I stayed ten days and on some days saw only one staff member in the whole hotel, the person at the counter. The room service lady came whenever she felt like it, at 10, 11, 12, or even 2. I could go to a meeting and return at 2 PM to find my room still not serviced. The towels had been washed and reused so many times they felt like sandpaper. My wife called the hotel number when my phone was off, but the staff let me know only 12 hours later. Amazing?! The restaurant was closed while I was there, so I had to order food two or three times a day. If you’re a writer who needs quiet, this could be perfect. There’s a swimming pool, and you can sit in the shade among lots of trees to write a whole novel. The hotel has landscaping all around, with trees, flowers, and shade. If you like nature and silence, it may suit you.

It’s all as advertised and good value for money. The location makes arriving and leaving easy, and gives you convenient access to Pattaya without being right in the center. The pool is good. There’s no food or drinks available.
