The Train Resort

We paid about $200 for a week, which didn’t feel cheap given the quality. The room was dark and the bed was very hard. The bathroom was unpleasant and not clean, including the shower, tub, and toilet. I think bed bugs may have bitten me, and there were lots of mosquitoes. Breakfast was poor quality and very basic, with almost the same food each day: fried rice, one curry, salad, and toast. There are already plenty of negative reviews, and sadly our stay backs them up. The service and room condition don’t seem to be getting better. The price just doesn’t match what you get, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We booked because we wanted the fun of staying in a train-themed hotel, but room 708 was about 400 meters from the actual train-style building. Rooms 400 through 710 are just ordinary little houses, with no real connection to the train theme. The room quality was poor. The bathroom door frame is probably around 170 cm high, so any foreign man is likely to hit his head sooner or later. They hadn’t finished the whole wall either, meaning someone over 200 cm tall could peek at people showering even with the door closed. There was zero thought or quality in the design. I wish this were in a country where you could sue them for a concussion after hitting your head a few times. The shower pressure was weak. Turn on the boiler and you could either have a cold shower or burn your skin with hot water, no middle ground. At least we only paid for one night to check the vibe, and I’m glad we can move on. The bed was clean and had no bed bugs. Staff were nice, but when we complained they could only smile, since the bad design was beyond their control. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

The payment situation left a bad impression. I couldn’t top up my bank card while in Thailand, so I asked whether they could give me the rate shown on their own website. They refused and said cash payment meant I’d have to pay 20-30% more than the listed price. Booking and Agoda could actually book the room for less. I was in room 402, where the bathroom was full of cockroaches. I attached photos as proof. That’s unacceptable in any hotel, and the property clearly needs urgent pest control and proper sanitation. Whether you stay is up to you, but I can’t recommend it. The insects and odd pricing policy made for a very bad experience.

The room was hot, smelly, and uncomfortable, with a rock-hard mattress and no air conditioning. The room isn’t actually in a train, despite the misleading marketing. Reception wouldn’t answer the phone, and the staff were rude and unhelpful. Getting from the lobby to the room meant a taxi ride. The booking app didn’t mention the 500 baht cash-only key deposit, or that the sauna and spa cost an extra 180 per person.
