Blue Mountain Phangnga Resort

We decided not to check in and left Phang Nga altogether. The room was up an extremely steep slope, difficult enough that you'd need to be fit to climb it. It didn't seem suitable for luggage, a baby, or even mild mobility problems. We'd arrived with our newborn, in heavy rain, after finding the town deserted, with nothing around. Since we'd already paid, we went to the hotel anyway. Reaching reception meant climbing two flights of stairs, already awkward with a baby. We'd contacted the property a month earlier with a couple of simple requests and got no reply. They weren't urgent, so we hadn't followed up, but it left a bad first impression. At reception a woman saw us holding the baby but didn't look at us or say hello. The place seemed completely empty, and I doubt there were other guests those days. We were only a couple of hours early, so we hoped for a little understanding. Instead of letting us check in early, which seems like a simple gesture and something most places do, she had us sign papers without speaking, said, “check-in at 14:00,” and walked away. We asked politely for a partial refund after leaving, but never got a response. No hospitality or help, and a very negative experience. I strongly don't recommend this property.

The room was spacious and clean enough, though a little old. There were geckos inside, and sometimes their droppings fell into the room. The hotel is halfway up a mountain, so getting there means a fairly strenuous climb up a steep slope.

The view was fantastic, and the prices seemed fair. We had the ribeye and salmon at the restaurant, and both were quite good. I'll come back next time I'm passing through.

We enjoyed the view and had a good stay. A concert nearby made things a little noisy from 7 pm to 11 pm, but it was Friday night, so we understood the lively atmosphere.
