Khao Sok River Lodge Hotel

At night, all you hear is the jungle. The place has the amenities you need, and our cabin was right beside the river with a perfect view, though some cabins don't have a great one. Trails and everything else are just a short walk away. Given the setting and all the nature sounds, I was surprised there were so few insects around.

On February 6, 2026, at about 8:30 PM, we had our first unpleasant experience in Thailand. We couldn't reach our taxi driver because our phones were acting up, so we asked reception at Khao Sok River Lodge Hotel if we could make a call for a fee. The receptionist said, “That’s not my problem.” It was dismissive and unhelpful, especially after we'd found people elsewhere in Thailand consistently friendly and willing to help.

The venue itself is amazing, but a few staff interactions were awful. I'd paid for an expensive four-night room because I wanted a good location and some time to rest on holiday. There were no outlets by the beds, so I was offered an extension lead. When I went to pick it up, the receptionist told me, “You should go an buy one at the store,” took it out of my hands, and hid it somewhere. Another lovely worker found it and was waiting to hand it over. I asked if my food order could be brought on a tray so I could eat in my room. The answer was, “no, you have to eat it here.” I don't understand the point of a nearby room when I'd already paid for the food, and restaurants let you take food away. When I asked about booking a tour, I found the hotel price was 200BHT more than elsewhere. They told me, “you should go and buy it in another place then.”

Everything felt calm and clean, and the staff were so friendly. Our rooms were beautiful and set right in nature. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
