Khaosok Las Orquideas Resort

A great spot in the jungle if you want a break from the rush of city life. The staff were unusually helpful, charismatic, and funny, and the owner is involved hands-on, which made us feel in safe hands. I'd highly recommend staying here.

We spent two nights here and had such a lovely time. The hosts are welcoming, kind, and helpful, and know the area really well. The rooms were clean, and the setting was quiet and peaceful, while shops and bars were still nearby. There are two sweet cats on the property, and if you're lucky, you might see monkeys moving through the trees. Our room had a mosquito net, which made the stay comfortable. I also recommend emailing the hosts about trips, since they have plenty to offer. I'd be happy to come back.

Our balcony looked like a scene from a romantic movie, and the rooms were spotless. The owners were very friendly too. We spent three nights at Las Orquideas Khao Sok, and each one felt like being in a fairytale deep in the jungle. It brought to mind an adventure in the “Timbuktu of Thailand,” mysterious, refreshing, and beautiful. The place had such a romantic atmosphere that my partner joked, “This nature makes my heart beat faster than a workout!” I blushed a little at that sweet tease. If you want a fun adventure with a bit of romance, this is a wonderful place. You may not want to leave.

After the owner's response, here's an update: the waitress told us the chicken nuggets were frozen and bought at a supermarket. The owner's comments and the way he handled things came across as defensive and aggressive, as well as uncomfortable. The Thai food we ordered wasn't comparable in quality or preparation to other restaurants nearby. There's a reason this restaurant is emptier than the others in the area. We ate there and found the food poor compared with nearby restaurants. The menu is very Western-oriented, even the Thai dishes, in taste, prices, and atmosphere. I won't go back.
