Magical Mountain View Resort

We joined the bamboo rafting trip arranged by the hotel, and the beautiful scenery along the way made it easy to relax and enjoy being close to nature. The hotel itself is surrounded by mountains and greenery, with lovely views from different spots. It’s built on a hillside with lots of stairs and levels, but golf carts are available to get around. The staff were attentive and always ready to help. Our room was clean and peaceful, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and well prepared. It was a memorable, relaxing stay.

The mountain view was beautiful from the restaurant, though mosquitoes came with the rainforest setting. Our room faced the hills instead, and a large low roof blocked most of the view from our balcony. The floor plan was odd, with narrow, angled spaces, though the room itself was okay. We’d hoped for a nice breakfast, but most of it seemed to be cold leftovers from the day before. We didn’t use the pool because it’s down the hill and then back up, though they do offer a golf cart ride. We stayed two nights while one of us visited the National Park and the other looked after the baby. We’d wanted to treat ourselves a little. We had dinner at Texas Thai one evening, which was a great recommendation.

We only wish we’d booked a longer stay. The place looked magical in the booking photos, and it turned out even better than we expected. The views are breathtaking, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the food in the hotel restaurant tastes good. The hotel can arrange a day trip to Khao Sok lake, along with other activities like rafting, though we didn’t get to try those. Sitting by the pool in the quiet and taking in the views was so relaxing and made the visit worthwhile.

The food was great and the hotel staff were kind. The rooms are lovely too, but not being able to enjoy the pool really takes away from one of the main reasons to come here. Your experience depends a lot on who else is around. Some German? tourists sat right on top of us when the place was otherwise empty, talked loudly just behind our heads until we had headaches, and dragged furniture across the pool area. The photo shows the people I found rudest, with one person’s foot about 12 inches from my head. It felt like they were putting their feet on me. Their conversation was so overbearing that we had to leave with headaches. The hotel should have some pool rules about personal space and considerate behavior.
