A Day In Phetchabun

Breakfast was pretty good, with a buffet and an omelet with bacon, and the price seemed fair considering it was included. The location is handy for restaurants and nightlife, but far enough away that noise wasn’t a problem. The grounds are well kept, with a play area, covered parking, and coin-operated washers and dryers. Staff were professional, though not especially friendly.

The room was A7, where the air conditioner was very noisy. At reception, the staff were polite and nice, but barely spoke English. I checked in on Tuesday and was quoted 890 with breakfast. I said I didn’t want breakfast, but reception told me the price was the same either way. Since I don’t eat Thai breakfast, I asked the next morning for an omelet. The chef refused and pointed me to the food on the table, while busy watching his phone. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We stayed for a day on the way to Khao Kho. The café has a lovely view, and the hotel seems to get tour groups. Breakfast was basic. My room was large and the bed was comfortable, with an old-fashioned feel. The room itself was showing its age, with peeling walls, or perhaps I was given one that needed maintenance. Still, it was a comfortable stay.

The room wasn’t worth the price for me, though the stay wasn’t entirely bad. The photos set different expectations, and the mosquitoes in the room were a serious problem. The bed was okay, and the shower had low pressure but warm water. Service was lacking, so I had to ask several times for things I expected to be there. There was no hot water or cup for coffee in the room. The girl at the front desk heated some water and brought a small tray with Nescafe and a cup. It wasn’t much, but I appreciated it.
