Bluemoon Riverside Resort

We stayed in a spacious, comfortable modern villa, and all the rooms were clean. Each had a terrace, or a balcony for the upstairs room. The only thing I’d miss on a longer visit is storage space for clothes and suitcases, though it wasn’t an issue during our short stay. The resort sits beside the Mun River, and the floating restaurant served good food by Thai standards, including for Westerners who enjoy Thai food. Breakfast portions were modest and there weren’t many options. The pool could use a clean, but it stays open in the low, dry season when many others nearby don’t. The small “cozy container” rooms were genuinely cosy and reasonably priced. Since there are no twin-bed rooms, they let us give the children separate rooms.

The in-house restaurant served an outstanding dinner over the water, and watching the sunset on the river made up for the pool being a bit lackluster. The resort is also 20-30 minutes from local spots like Kaeng Tana National Park and the Bi-Color River. Our room had plenty of amenities, including strong WiFi, an electric kettle, bathrobes, and toiletries. There’s a vintage touch too, with phones connecting the rooms and lots of outdoor garden space. The rooms were clean and well appointed, the staff incredibly friendly, and the Moon River location is beautiful. It all gives the place a well-executed resort feel. I’d definitely stay again.

The room was spacious and practical, and the WiFi, air conditioning, and shower all worked. There are several styles, from compact rooms and funky container rooms to suites. Dinner and breakfast were good, with Thai and Western options. Breakfast cost 150 baht and included coffee. The restaurant was closed at lunch, but we found a noodle café about 1 km away. We had an excellent welcome, including a cool drink and a check-in with fluent English. There’s a lot to like about this quiet riverside resort between Khong Khiam and Phibun Mangsahan. The riverside pool was completely overgrown, though, and the clean above-ground pool needs maintenance because some of its edges are dangerously sharp. Still, it’s good value if you want a peaceful riverside getaway.

The room was clean, and breakfast was good with more than enough to eat. Some facilities felt dated during our rainy-season stay. It’s a little pricey, but I thought it was worth it. The location wasn’t an issue since we had a car, even though it’s 13 km from central Piboonmangsahan district.
