Boonme Heritage Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)

The AC quit around 1 a.m., right in the hot season when temperatures go over 40C, and the room got unbearably hot. It left us questioning the hotel’s maintenance. The beds were hard too, so we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. The room was very basic, and there’s no covered parking. Breakfast was just okay. We’d seen reviews mentioning Patongko, but there wasn’t any. The sandwiches were much too sweet. There aren’t restaurants or shops nearby apart from a Makro cash and carry.

I had booked a room for December 27-30, 2024, but my plans changed unexpectedly. I was coming from Lampang, and the only bus that week with seats left was on December 26, so I asked if the hotel could move my arrival up by a day, with an extra charge. The Booking app showed that a change to December 26 was possible for about 700 THB more. I made the change, got confirmation by email, and booked the last bus to Phitsanulok. Late that night, the hotel messaged me in Thai, which I had to translate. They said they were fully booked on December 26 and told me to change the reservation. The message also said “26.12.2024 FULL!!!!” as shown in the screenshot. I find it unacceptable that the hotel replied to messages in English only in Thai, which shows disregard for basic communication with foreign guests. More seriously, it seems they accommodated someone unofficially and ignored Booking’s rules. I found that unprofessional. Foreign tourists should avoid this hotel, and even this city, which has significant poverty and lacks basic standards for travelers.

Breakfast was delicious, and there’s plenty of parking. The price is affordable, the room was clean, and the staff were very friendly with excellent service. I’d highly recommend it if you’re tired from traveling.

There are lots of trees around the hotel, and the room was spacious as well as very clean. Breakfast was reasonable. I’d definitely recommend it.
