Holatel Hotel Phitsanulok

Getting to the nearby temples on foot is easy from this conveniently located hotel. Service was good from arrival through departure, and the room facilities were good too. The one exception was the shower holder, which the hotel had fixed but still wouldn’t hold the shower head.

Breakfast was convenient and tasty, a bright spot in the stay. The bedding was reasonable, though some stains were noticeable. The TV barely worked and had no streaming or casting from personal devices. The showerhead was coming loose and needed a clean, and for some reason hot water only worked at night. The ventilation system also needs a proper cleaning: dust came out of the vents and left thick dusty patches around the room.

The location is excellent, but the stay fell well short of what I expected for the price and the 4.1-star rating. The recent renovation seems cheap, and the finishes don’t match the price point. In my first room, the humid smell was so strong I couldn’t stay there, so I asked to change rooms. The second room had its own problems: the showerhead was poorly attached, only the hot water knob worked, and there were visible stains on the bedsheets. That’s unacceptable at any hotel. I don’t think Holatel is worth what it charges. The owner needs to improve management and maintenance, because the prime location gives the property potential. I’m left wondering how it got a 4.1-star rating. Unless things improve, I’d look for better value and quality elsewhere.

Check-in was effortless, and the staff were accommodating. It’s a lovely boutique hotel for the price, with large modern rooms and a spacious bathroom with a great shower. Breakfast was pretty standard, with plastic sausage and eggs, plus a traditional Thai breakfast. I’d happily stay again.
