Such a good hotel!

We liked the atmosphere, and although the banana boats and pedal boats weren't working, we were still able to paddle. But the way a late fee was handled was upsetting and turned this into the worst trip we’ve had in years. The charge wasn’t clearly explained, and the housekeeping staff or coordinator could have told us sooner so we could check and dispute it while still there. There were already some stains when we checked in, but they seemed minor, and we didn’t expect trouble. We didn’t take pictures or look under the blankets. We’d never needed to inspect a room carefully before. At checkout, the housekeeper looked around while we were there, waited briefly as our friends packed, and didn’t mention any issue. We left around 10:45 AM. Then, at 12:59 PM, about two hours later, the accommodation contacted us saying they’d found a stain and wanted 1,800 baht for cleaning. They asked for photo evidence, which we’re certain we hadn’t taken. We couldn’t return in time to sort it out, and we had no photo of the stain, which we couldn’t find on the blanket. The long delay before they raised it made us uneasy. There didn’t seem to be enough bathrooms for the number of guests, and there were quite a few insects and caterpillars nearby, so be careful. For future guests, I’d suggest taking detailed photos and videos at check-in, including under the sheets and blankets, and reporting any mark right away to ask for a replacement. At checkout, stay until housekeeping has finished checking the room and you’ve got your deposit back, to avoid deductions after you’ve left without evidence to support your side. Also put fragile dishes and utensils away in advance if you’re worried about breakage fees. Our group stored ours in a cupboard and stopped using ceramic dishes as soon as we arrived, just to be safe.
