The Rommanee Classic Guesthouse

Good value if you're traveling with carry-on luggage and staying just a night or two. The location is right in the old town, as I knew when I booked, but I hadn't realized the only entrance runs through the coffee shop and its customer area. There's no elevator, so hauling big bags upstairs is difficult, and after 6 pm there's no receptionist or staff to handle requests, you have to contact the owner directly. It was noisy at night, and the A/C itself was pretty loud. The bathroom could use improvement. They don't clean during your stay, so I had to get my own water bottles for the second day.

The shower was amazing, and the rooms were okay for a 3 star hotel. Service could be better, though, since the two people work at both the coffee shop and the guesthouse.

The rooms get lovely natural light, and the place feels cozy, with one of the best cafes in town built into it. Service was fantastic too, everyone was really friendly and understanding. I was trying to get to sleep early because I had stomach bugs, but the market right outside was loud, especially the Karaoke music, which came through the walls. I only fell asleep after it stopped around 10:30 pm. If you're unwell or need an early night on Sunday, bring noise cancelling earphones or headphones.

The room was comfortable, though nothing special, and there was still a faint coffee smell on the third floor. If you're bothered by that, you might want to stay somewhere else. Getting to the room means going behind the coffee shop, past a quaint professional coffee grinding spot, leaving your shoes in a small locker, then heading upstairs. The Old Town location is excellent, but the accommodation is inside a coffee shop and easy to walk past. There's little signage explaining the lodging and no dedicated reception, so I had to wait for cafe customers to be served before asking a barista to check me in.
