The Yorkshire Hotel

The hotel is right in the nightlife, so there was some noise, but I expected that and it didn’t bother me. The pool area is great, the staff are great, and the rooms are fine. The shower was hot and powerful. Good value, and I’d stay again.

Being a few meters from the beach and Bangla was a great location. That was the only real plus for us. The room we got didn’t look like the pictures, and when we asked to cancel, we were told it couldn’t be done because the booking was through expedia. That felt like a weak excuse. Never again.

Our visit was brief, but the hospitality was something special and the staff took good care of us. The man who helped with both check-in and check-out was the hero, though I didn’t catch his name. Thank you!

For our annual golf trip, this is a handy little place in the middle of Patong. It’s not trying to compete with the big names or pretend to be luxury, and the price is decent. The Yorkshire is about 100 metres from the top of Bangla Road, away from the worst of the noise, though it can still get a bit loud. The rooms are large and clean but basic, and the TV has just a couple of English channels. What keeps us coming back is the staff. They’re friendly, attentive, well trained and often notice when you need help before you ask. The service is better than I’ve had in plenty of fancy hotels. The Yorkshire is also known for its English breakfasts. The bacon butties are very good, and you can order a full English with all the extras, including black pudding.
