Baan Taranya Resort

Baan Taranya is a peaceful, cozy resort that fits beautifully into its surroundings on Koh Yao Yai. Our room was exceptionally spacious, thoughtfully designed, and well equipped, with a feeling of comfort and care rather than excess. The food was outstanding, fresh and full of flavour, and the restaurant felt charming and inviting. Exploring Koh Yao Yai is worthwhile too, with its calm and untouched beauty, and this makes an ideal base. The welcome from the staff was warm from the moment we arrived. Their kindness and attentiveness made the whole stay feel almost like being with family. A refined but heartfelt experience for anyone looking for tranquility, genuine hospitality, and comfort on an unspoiled island.

Khun Ann and the reception team were endlessly helpful during our five days in Baan Taranya’s junior sea view suite. When my husband’s glasses lost a screw, we asked if there was a glasses shop on the island. There wasn’t, but Ann somehow found a pair of broken glasses to take a screw from, along with a tiny screwdriver to fit it. That saved us a long trip back and forth to Phuket, and we’re so grateful. The restaurant was beautiful and had a great selection of food. Our servers were courteous, friendly, and excellent, especially Harry, who spoke excellent English and always tried his best to give fantastic service. We were blown away and would come back.

We spent a day here for our honeymoon and loved the resort’s good vibes and ocean views. Our room was really pretty and very clean, with lots provided, including plenty of towels, bathrobes, lotion, and cottonbuds. Lunch at the restaurant was super good, and breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. I especially liked the salads. We’d definitely stay again if we visit in future.

Baan Taranya Koh Yao Yai Resort is a fairly basic, no-frills beachside hotel. The garden is very nice, though the pool is smallish and has very few loungers. Breakfast is reasonable, with a good coffee machine and the usual egg options, but often watermelon is the only fruit. The newer-section rooms are almost new but very small. Also, what they call a “pool view” is more like a view of a dumpster. Management of both the hotel and restaurant seemed very limited, and that showed. When I asked for a room that matched the booking terms, the hotel didn’t help; the situation was resolved only after Booking.com made excellent efforts.
