The bungalows sit in a lovely spot in the woods, right around the middle of the bay. The beach is great, the view is lovely, and the water behind the waves, or when the waves are smaller, is pretty clear. It’s good for beach break surfing. For a quieter terrace, choose one of the smaller bungalows, since the larger ones are along the resort’s main path and get more traffic. Our experience with upkeep wasn’t good. The rooms weren’t cleaned, the towels smelled bad even when they were new, and there was litter and fallen leaves everywhere. The place felt uncared for, with no gardening. Staff seemed bored and annoyed by the tourists, and there were no smiles apart from when it was time to pay. The food was average. We liked PENS food in town, which was tasty, well priced, and original Thai cooking. For breakfast, Nanas Bakery was great, especially its own sourdough bread.

Bamboo Bungalows feels like a home away from home, and I’ve been coming to Ko Phayam for years. The comfortable bungalows, great food, lush garden, and all the loungers and hammocks make it easy to relax. The staff are incredibly kind too, especially Koko, who’s an angel. I can’t imagine a more restful holiday, which is why I keep coming back every year.

We spent a full week at Bamboo with six families and kids of all ages, and it was the best vacation we’ve ever had. The team’s service was warm and kind, almost magical, and it really came from the heart. The beach was perfect, the food was amazing, and everything was clean and high quality. It’s such a wonderful place for families. We can’t wait to come back.

The garden around the bungalows gives the whole place a lovely tropical feel, and the staff make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. Bamboo Bungalows is right on beautiful Ao Yai beach on Koh Phayam, so the location is hard to beat. It’s a great place to switch off and recharge. Highly recommended, easily 5 stars.

I loved staying here. The staff are amazing and always happy to help, and they even helped me sing Taylor Swift songs. The food was delicious, five stars from me. The beach and scenery are beautiful, with amazing waves, surfboard rentals, and body boards. The sunsets are out of this world too. The rooms are comfortable, though the ones without air conditioning can get really hot at times. There are fans for anyone who’s fine sleeping without AC. I’d recommend it to families, solo travelers, and anyone who likes meeting interesting, loving people.
