Tinidee Hotel @ Ranong

The staff were cheerful, attentive, and helpful, and the pool, gym, hot spring tubs, and plentiful parking are good features. There’s also a street full of local food within walking distance, so a discounted rate would make this worthwhile. The resort is decent for the price, though it’s showing its age and isn’t especially impressive. There have been many repaints. The bedside charging setup is awkward, with the only outlet hidden low by the desk, dresser mirror, or floor. Breakfast costs 220 baht, about $7 USD, for very average food. That could be worth it with more variety, but local restaurants offer two meals for that price, or more.

Our mountain view room was lovely, and everything was very clean and generally well cared for. The facilities are good, especially the gym with its free classes, and the hot spring source is right beside the pool. Staff were attentive. The property could use some refurbishment, though.

It’s a large hotel for such a small town. The rooms felt spacious and airy, but the window views weren’t much to look at. The air conditioner stopped at first, though they’d fixed it by the time I returned from dinner. The place looks new from outside, but the interior is quite old, with worn bathroom fittings. There’s no shower fitted by the commode, so bring wet tissues. The elevators feel cramped and small. There were different food options, and my Thai friends said the menu was inexpensive, but we ate elsewhere.

We had a fun stay thanks to the friendly welcome and the enjoyable breakfast buffet in the morning. My wife and I especially liked the pool and mineral hot spring spa. The rooms were clean and nice.
