Vanilla River

For 590 baht, it’s a reasonable place to sleep for the night, but the facilities didn’t impress me. They make a whole thing of the remotes: you have to leave the TV remote at the counter with the room key, and there isn’t an air conditioning remote at all. So you’re either sweating or freezing overnight.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the room was quite large and reasonably clean. It’s right in the middle of Ratchaburi market, just a few steps from town. The building has been renovated, though the price feels a little high for the quality.

The room and bathroom are roomy, with air conditioning, a fridge, safe, blower, some utensils, chairs, tables and other things. Staff were friendly, although they don’t speak English; the owner is friendly and does. It’s affordable and comfortable, and I’d choose it over pricier places. You’re near the river market, the roadside and 24-hour stores. The way to the rooms is narrow, the elevator is small, and it can be confusing to find your room at first, though staff guide you. The window view isn’t anything special.

In old town Ratchaburi, the location was great. Restaurants and the riverside were within walking distance, with lots to see and do. The rooms were spacious and matched what the listing showed.
