The bed was rock hard, less comfortable than any $10-a-night room we’ve stayed in. The whole area felt wildly overpriced, had poor reviews, and didn’t offer much to do. I’d tell people to stay elsewhere. After a late check-in, we unpacked and realized the room hadn’t been cleaned. There was used toilet paper in the bin and dirty towels lying around. We were told cleaning would take too long, “maybe two days,” so we had to repack and move to another supposedly clean room. That one had a large clump of hair on the bathroom wall and stains on the sheets and pillows. We asked for it to be cleaned. An hour later, five teenage cleaning staff came in without warning while my wife was on the toilet. She had to leave, and they cleaned for 45 minutes. When we returned, the same hair and stains were still there. I don’t think they cleaned at all. I complained again and was told, “wait a minute sir,” but nobody got back to us. The hair stayed for our whole stay, and I didn’t think asking a fourth time was worth it. The staff were unprofessional throughout. I accidentally filled my water from the staff-only refill station because they had done it for us on arrival. A security man came up from behind and pushed me aggressively, saying “no no.” When I apologized, he replied “no sorry” and was very angry.

We slept terribly because the bed was rock solid, and our limbs kept going numb. It was the worst stay of five months of travel, and cost three or four times as much as anywhere else. Save yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else. Across our three nights, we had problems from the start. Our room wasn’t ready at check-in, so we were put in another one. After unpacking, we found dirt all over the floor and used toilet paper in the bathroom. Staff moved us to a room that had supposedly been cleaned, but it still wasn’t up to standard. The sheets were stained, and there were huge clumps of hair on the shower wall. We asked to switch rooms and were told the hotel was full, even though plenty of rooms appeared available online. Then the cleaning staff let themselves into our room without telling us or explaining anything. It felt like a huge invasion of privacy. We barely got an apology, and staff did nothing to make us comfortable.

The staff were kind and always willing to help. The location is surrounded by nature, which was great for a morning run, and just a 10-minute walk from the old town, though getting to the beach was a bit of a trek. The room was functional, but the air conditioning blowing straight onto the bed was annoying. The sheets weren’t very clean, and the bed was hard.

ROBERT was the best host I’ve ever had, across all the countries I’ve visited and all the traveling I’ve done. My friends agree. He was helpful, kind, and positive every time. I told him he deserved a raise, and I meant it. The resort was great, and the house very clean, with just a few minor problems. This was our best stay in Thailand, all thanks to ROBERT. We hope to see him again!
