The Arch Phuket Hotel

The location is amazing, near the old town and some night markets, and reasonably close to Patong Beach. It’s a better fit if you want to explore the whole of Phuket rather than focus only on beaches. Phuket traffic can be bad, so if beach activities are your main plan, somewhere else might suit you better. For the price at The Arch, though, it’s hard to compare. The staff were very nice and friendly, and we were generally very satisfied with the service. There’s no lift, but that wasn’t a big deal for us. Breakfast was included and really good, with Japanese bentos comparable to decent restaurants.

The rooms and interior are really nice, with a modern Japanese style. It’s a good hotel for the price.

The freshly cooked breakfast tasted good, and the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us. The room was clean and nicely decorated, with the usual amenities but nothing fancy. Good value for money. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator, which may not suit elderly guests.

There are inexpensive Thai food stalls and fresh fruit juice right beside the hotel. Lotus supermarket and Chilva Night Market are about a 25-minute walk away, while Andamanda and Central Festival Mall take up to 15 minutes by car. The airport is around 40 minutes away. Our room was clean and spacious, with an aircon remote, yukata, table and chairs. The shower pressure was weak, there’s no lift, slippers or hand soap, and the outlets need an adaptor because they don’t fit 3-pin plugs. We also had to ask before they gave us two bottles of water after check-in. Soundproofing isn’t great, so we could hear traffic and doors closing. The service staff spoke very little English. Breakfast was tasty and cooked when we arrived at the dining hall. It included dragon fruit, salad, fried chicken or ham and sausage, bread or rice roll, eggs, a cup of syrup orange and plain water. There were only the same two options every day, with exactly the same fruit and meat, so a longer stay could get tiring.
