Nariya Bayfront Phuket Resort

We couldn’t flush the toilet because the water wasn’t working, and they’d given us the wrong room to begin with. We’re heading to Marriott instead. I booked through Agoda, which I should have known better than to do since they never refund you, whatever the circumstances. My mistake doing business with both companies. I should have read the reviews first.

The sea view is lovely and the location is nice, but the stay had several problems. The mattresses were uncomfortable, water sometimes cut out, and the hot water didn’t work well. There were lots of insects and frogs around the villas, and the living room had a noticeable pesticide smell. Cleanliness felt closer to two stars or less than four-star standard. The staff were friendly and polite, and I’d give them one star. Location gets one star, and my total rating is two.

The loud rain hitting the roof kept me from sleeping well at night. Although the resort overlooks the beach, guests aren’t allowed to walk on or access it, which was disappointing. I stayed two nights. Check-in went smoothly, and reception showed us to the villa, but we had to leave a 1,000 Baht deposit as insurance. The air conditioners were old and didn’t cool the rooms properly. The sink and bathroom tissue basket were rusty, and even the water tasted rusty. There were many mosquitoes and insects in the rooms and kitchen, with lizards all around and inside the villa. Housekeeping gets 2/10: they cleaned superficially, but didn’t change the sheets or mattress covers during our stay.

My family loved the ocean view from the clean public pool, and we’d go into the ocean when the tide was low. The rooms were amazing too. We always came back to a made bed and fresh towels. I recommend it for families.
