Wonderful Pool House at Rawai

There’s a 711 nearby, along with dozens of massage shops and a few Thai restaurants. Barada Chocolate Factory is close too, and there’s plenty of parking. I didn’t see much public transport. For the price, it was a good experience. The pool was fine, and my room was fine too, with a balcony and a decent bathroom with a rain shower. The open but covered foyer has no AC, so waiting there isn’t pleasant. It would be nicer if they had some fans.

The staff were pleasant and helped us when we needed something. That’s the only reason I’m giving two stars, because this hotel really wasn’t worth the price. We’ve stayed at nicer places in Thailand in the same range, so I can’t recommend it. The photos make the place look newer than it is. It’s tired and worn. The pool is missing tiles, which scratched my foot and swimsuit, and there were only three loungers. Internet was awful, unreliable and often not working at all. The room was uncomfortable, with cheap chairs and just one small pillow each on a king-size bed. It wasn’t a comfortable place to relax or get online. Little things made it feel cheap too: towels with another hotel’s name, mismatched dishes, and a broken lounge chair left off to the side. There wasn’t much soundproofing either, and loud neighbors kept us awake. The location is okay if you have a motorbike.

We told the resort immediately, before check-in, that an emergency had made us miss our flight and that we needed to move the reservation date. We weren’t asking to cancel. We were in touch with them, they replied, and they knew the situation. No room was used, nothing needed cleaning, we didn’t use electricity, and no services were provided. There was no inconvenience on their end, but they canceled the booking without warning and charged us anyway. We gave notice and were already discussing a date change, yet they chose to keep the money for a stay that never happened. If customer service, basic understanding, and fair treatment matter to you, don’t book this resort. They showed no flexibility or care for a guest facing an emergency. If this is how they treat people before arrival, imagine how they might handle a problem during a stay. Read the negative reviews carefully. Book somewhere that values people over profit.

The hotel was overpriced, offered no service, and the staff were arrogant and careless. If there were zero stars, I’d give it that. I booked through a booking website based on reviews, but there was no Wi-Fi in the room. When we asked, staff arrogantly told us to top up our internet or buy a SIM. That was a really lame response. The AC didn’t cool properly, and we were forced to use it above 23 degrees. We’d paid for five nights upfront, so we had to stay and put up with it. The room was cleaned and water bottles were provided only one day, even though we hung the make-up-room tag on the door. This was the worst experience of my last two trips to Thailand. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s far from the city, and getting around without a bike or car is a nightmare because taxis are expensive.
