Crystal Jade Hotel

We came back for one night while passing through, and the staff were just as friendly as before. They’d even called after our first visit because they missed us, lol. The breakfast lady got our egg order exactly right, and I definitely made the most of the breakfast spread. We don’t always book breakfast, but the fruit was good, especially the dragon fruit, and they had brown bread and lovely jam. The butter tasted like cheap margarine, though, so we bought our own. The hotel was great value and breakfast was good. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The bikes made it easy to explore a lot in a short time, but there are only four and they weren’t always available. Be careful with bike 1, its tyre went flat while I was out riding. The pool was the worst part: tiny, unclean, and only in the sun for maybe a couple of hours in the morning, so we didn’t use it. The space at the top of the hotel would make a great sun deck. The location worked well for Passion Shopping Centre, and 7-Eleven was at most a five-minute walk away. There’s a good outdoor food court nearby, including 700 Steak, which my boyfriend enjoyed, plus lots of other choices and Thai food that we love. Our first room, 311, was good, but 203 needs a lot of TLC. Tables were coming away from the wall, wallpaper was peeling, and surfaces were marked. The balconies badly need dusting. Also, those valance sheets wrapped around the bed base seem to have been binned a long time ago. Leaving the bed base visible would look neater, be easier, and mean less damaged stuff. Apart from that, it’s a great hotel and we’d stay again if we were passing through.

We paid a price that made everything feel good overall, and the room was clean, though clearly worn with age. The room itself was huge, almost like a studio apartment, with twin beds, a living area and big sofa, TV, pantry, outdoor balcony, and a bathroom. It had a proper sized fridge, microwave, and sink. The bathroom was good, and the hot shower worked okay. We asked for a quiet room and got the one farthest away on the second floor. Reception was friendly, and a security guard at the entrance gate was attentive. The hotel is on the main street and easy to find with Google map. Parking is in the basement, but there wasn’t much light in there at night. Maybe that was because we stayed on a quiet day in early October. Breakfast was good and came in a big portion, though instead of a buffet line they asked us to choose what we wanted for the next morning. Coffee was self-serve from an automatic machine, but didn’t taste good at all. The room lighting was insufficient, and the pantry light wasn’t working.

I checked in today at 1300. The two women at reception were lovely, very friendly, and spoke good English. This is the cleanest place I’ve seen in Thailand, and it’s clear they take pride in it. I booked two days at first, but I’m thinking of extending for another five.

The location was perfect for us, right in the city center and very close to the mall. The breakfast menu had a good spread, and it’s kid-friendly too. We had a really comfortable stay in a big, spacious room that was clean and well kept.
