The Great Rayong Hotel

For 400 baht as a walk-in, it's a nice cheap hotel and an easy walk down the soi to the beach. The rooms are large, with clean, good linen, though it's an older place and the furniture has seen better days. The cheap MDF is falling to bits. Breakfast was included and good, and the staff were nice. There's no elevator, so getting luggage up the flights of stairs was difficult, and the young men at the front desk didn't help.

The beach is clean and wonderful, which was a bright spot. I know a budget booking means a cheap experience, but there should still be mattress and pillow protectors, or properly fitted sheets and extra pillowcases, to stop sweat and bodily fluids soaking into them.

The staff were very kind and the service was excellent. The room was big and clean, and the location by the seaside is very good. I'll definitely come back.

There's a spacious pool with seating and sun loungers, and tables and chairs by the main entrance. You can buy drinks, snacks, and simple food at reception, and the room price included a simple breakfast. Parking is in front of the building. My standard double was a good size with a decent bathroom, and everything worked as it should. The interior is a little tired in this somewhat older hotel. There is no lift, which may be an issue for people with mobility problems.
