VIP Condochain Rayong

The pool is great, but the rest of the building is run-down, dirty, and poorly maintained, even though some rooms are clean and in good shape. The lifts are old, slow, dirty, and scary. We went to the rooftop and found staff hiding there instead of working. Around the ground-floor pool area, some of the building’s glass was dirty and cracked all over. It looked ugly and probably dangerous. The gym was rusty and dirty, and using the snooker table or tennis courts costs extra. The staff smile, but it all seemed fake. All we heard was “Falang Falang Falang.” They seemed money hungry and like they just wanted to take advantage of foreigners. Don’t ask them to arrange transport: they wanted 1000 baht to Rayong city, while our own Bolt cost only 200 baht during the same period, over four times less. Use the Bolt or Grab taxi app in Thailand, or rent your own transport.

A lovely place to stay, with a great pool and the beach right out front.

Right in front of the sea, and nice and quiet. The place is old, so it’s good for a night or two, but the beach is very close.

The room was excellent: lots of space, a fully working kitchen with utensils and equipment, and a super comfortable bed. The pool was amazing, and the resort itself is beautiful. Still, we ran into several hassles. We were told online that check-in was at 1:00pm, but when we arrived, they said we had to wait another two hours because the previous guest hadn’t checked out. They also said there were no other rooms available to move us to. Ping pong and snooker or pool were listed among the facilities. The staff member said the ping pong gear was in the room, but it wasn’t, and when we asked, she said they didn’t have any. Later, when we asked about playing snooker or pool, she sighed loudly, rolled her eyes, and said the equipment cost 100baht. The next day we tried the tennis court. The same woman said it cost 120baht to use and told us the gear was outside. After a bit of a wild goose chase, we returned to ask again and found she’d had the equipment behind the desk the whole time. Her coworker thought we still hadn’t paid and said the court cost 100baht. We’d already been overcharged. We got our money back after a few comments back and forth, and the woman who’d overcharged us said, “sorry I forgot”. It’s a great place to stay, but watch out for a few things.
