Blue Hippo Hotel

May made check-in feel especially smooth and welcoming, and I really appreciated that. The team’s care shows throughout the stay, with service and attention to detail that keep impressing me. This was my third visit to Blue Hippo Hotel in Bangkok, and it’s become my first choice whenever I’m in town. Walking in feels like coming home. If you value kind service and staff who go the extra mile, this place delivers.

The breakfast was a highlight for me: warm, fresh, and the chef prepares the main dishes while you wait. It’s honestly the best hotel buffet I’ve had. I also liked the layout, with a cozy café downstairs and a restaurant, sauna, and gym on the second floor. There’s a 7-Eleven right across the street, plus a free shuttle to BTS Bearing that runs on schedule. My room was spotless, the hot water and air conditioning worked perfectly, and toiletries were provided except for a toothbrush and toothpaste. Having a water dispenser on each floor was handy. I first stayed one night, then returned for nine more, which says a lot about how much I liked it. I was very satisfied and would gladly come back.

The rooms and facilities are nice enough, but the service let the place down. We asked for another keycard so we could come and go separately for the gym or outside, and were told to try again tomorrow. We called to order room service and were told the order was confirmed. After 40 minutes, we went downstairs to check, only to hear the kitchen had closed and our order had been ignored. The website says the gym and sauna close at 11 pm, but staff made us leave at 9 pm. It’s also a poor location, about a 30-minute walk from the nearest BTS station. I don’t usually leave hotel reviews, but Blue Hippo just didn’t meet the mark. Sub-standard stay.

The room was a real bright spot: spacious for two, with a very comfortable king bed and bedding, and a full set of amenities including a microwave. It was in the Red Crocodile building, though I had booked Blue Hippo Hotel. Both are managed by Koon Hotel. The low price made the one-night stay worthwhile, and the place is modern and clean. I might return. The hallway and elevator smelled unpleasant, and I couldn’t see the gym because it was completely dark after 8 pm. The hotel sits on a quiet, very local street, with a 7-Eleven across the road. You’ll need Grab, Bolt, or another ride-share to get around, since it’s quite far from the city center. I chose it hoping to be near BKK Airport, but the drive was still a solid 20-30 minutes.
