Andaman Resort Koh Lipe

The restaurant was a real highlight. The food tasted fresh and carefully made, and the drinks and cocktails were great too. We honestly didn't want to eat anywhere else on the island because we liked the food here so much. The whole team made us feel welcome right from the start. We stayed before the main season and always found beach seats. In full season, I'd save one while going to breakfast. The air conditioning blew over the bed, as it did everywhere we travelled in Thailand, but the swing setting let us adjust the angle and sorted it out. In the shower wall there's a small drilled hole that lets the shower drain connect with the toilet drain, probably in case of overflow. It wasn't a big deal since the rest of the bathroom stayed dry, though I wish they'd found another way to keep water in the shower area. Our superior room had one king bed and one large single. It was spacious, the beds were comfortable, the shower pressure was strong, and hot water was available. The room was cleaned daily, and each person got a free bottle of water every day. The people were kind and helpful, and the taxi was good and charged the regular price. The location, view, and clear, calm sea were lovely, with snorkeling right from the beach. It rained every day during our stay, but the mountain seemed to catch most of it and our beach stayed dry. One day they were making flower arrangements for a special celebration and invited me and my daughter to make our own. She was very happy. A few little things needed work, but we found ways around them.

You can easily spend the whole day here and have what you need. The beach is lovely, and when there's no wind the water is warm and calm. The rooms are good and have air conditioning, and the staff were especially friendly and helpful. The restaurant has lots of Thai and Western dishes. I didn't try the Western food, though it looked great. The Thai food was the best, and the drinks were very good too.

We booked a beachfront room, and I'd choose it again when I return to koh lipe. There was only one longtail boat in view from the room. Further south, the motors would be noisy and you'd need to find a place to swim without lots of boats parked nearby. Going farther north costs a lot more, so this felt like a good balance of comfort and price. The room is simple but has what you need for a comfortable stay. Service was good, with fresh towels, water, and soap delivered daily. Laundry costs 100 bhat per kilo. Breakfast was decent for a two-star place, though it got repetitive quickly. There are some amazing, inexpensive places to eat within about a ten-minute walk.
