Chareena Beachside

The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had. The food was hot and they kept topping it up, unlike the lukewarm buffet you often get. The banana bread was great too, and the staff were friendly. Our room was lovely, with a big bed and good AC, though getting there meant climbing just under 100 steps, with the last 10 especially steep. If you’re in room g05, bring a torch. The shower needs a bracket instead of being left in the soap tray. Apart from those hassles, we really liked the room.

Right on the beach and great value for the price 😎🙏. It’s not luxury, but you get what you pay for, and I have no complaints at that price. Great stuff!

The location was peaceful at night and convenient for restaurants, shops, and the beach. Staff were welcoming, offered us a drink, and tried to help when problems came up. We booked Chareena Beachside for the rustic beach hut feel and central location, but the stay disappointed us. Our room, A7, was very dark, the bathroom had cockroaches, and the basic push-button door lock didn’t feel secure. The Wi-Fi never worked during our stay. By 8 a.m. every sunbed had a towel on it to reserve it, so none were available. Our booking gave us a noon checkout, but the receptionist pushed us to leave by 8 a.m., saying the next guests were arriving at 9. For over £250 for three nights, it was wildly overpriced given the outdated facilities and poor maintenance. It might be worth £20 a night, but there are much better choices on Koh Lipe. We can’t recommend it.

The location was fantastic, with the beach, shops, and restaurants right outside. But the apartment was a major letdown. It felt like a cramped, dark hobbit house, with almost no natural light and a gloomy, oppressive atmosphere that made it uncomfortable. Ants and cockroaches had infested the place too. I couldn’t wait to leave and wouldn’t want to repeat the experience.
